Walpugris Burlesque Show – Gallery

Following on from the Walpugris theme, here’s another gallery featuring some fantastic performances. Tom’s fan dance in particular was mesmerising, just a shame I had a camera stuck in front of my face…
If you’re curious, I did get covered in milk. I was in the “In these seats you will get wet” area.

Dr Sketchy’s Walpugris Special – Gallery

Walpugrissketchy
For those not in the know, Walkpugris marks the 6 month countdown to Halloween. Essentially it’s a spring festival at the opposite end of the year of the autumn festival that is Halloween. More info can be found here (Be warned, it is a Wiki page so some facts may be dubious to say the least)
Anyway, the art class this month brought a wonderful Red Riding Hood & Wicked Witch for those not out melting in the sun.

Dr Sketchy’s Rauncy Retro Romp – Gallery

A voyage into the past this time, the 60s to be exact. Both flower power and go-go dancing were on display and we somehow managed to avoid Paul McCartney being wheeled out at any point in the proceedings. Which was nice.

Granite City Roller Girls – Gallery

A slight departure from my usual efforts here, well more like a complete departure. I’ve heard about Roller Derby before, but due to a lack of suitable facilities in Aberdeen, there hasn’t been a local event in many months. So I was pleased to go along to the Granite City Roller Girls first home bout in quite some time.

Dr Sketchy Goes Wilde – Gallery

Dr Sketchy travelled to new heights today, and I carried all my gear there. It certainly chased away the cold from the snow in Aberdeen.
In all seriousness though, Dr Sketchy Aberdeen moved location to Slains Castle. A more fitting location for the macabre performances from the wonderful Crystina Wilde could not be found!

Dr Sketchy’s Dead Sexy – Gallery

Another great afternoon spent in the company of the “Dr Sketchy” crowd in Aberdeen’s Cellar 35. There’s more talent on display at these events than is fair, I’ll just stick to taking photos for the time being.

Ballroom Blitz Burlesque Night – Gallery

What can I say about this event? I’ve not the superlatives in my vocabulary to do it justice I’m afraid, thankfully I managed to capture some of the atmosphere in photographic form.
The Forum in Aberdeen played host to Hero Next Door’s event Ballroom Blitz Burlesque Night in aid of the very worthy charity Papyrus, who are here to raise awareness, provide services and help prevent young suicide.

Dr Sketchy’s Nude Avengers – Gallery

To believe that I’ve reached my thirties and this Sunday marked my first ever attendance at a burlesque show astounds me. But this was no ordinary burlesque, oh no! It was Dr Sketchy’s Nude Avengers life drawing burlesque.
A wonderful collaboration between artistic performance and traditional pen and ink drawing that according to the website has been around since 2005. How have I been oblivious to this for the past seven years?

Anyway, to find out more hop on over to the Facebook page here!
